Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is a casino game that some beginners find complex. Though it takes time to get used to, once you understand the baccarat strategy and rules, you will like it. It involves two hands known as the banker and the player. As a customer, you can bet on the player or banker’s hand. Here the rules of the game and how gamblers play.

Basic rules

Many people assume that the bank hand belongs to the house while the player hand to the bettor. This assumption is not accurate since you can assume any of the positions. The game starts with one bettor holding the shoe. This player slides a single card and passes it to a dealer as it faces down.

The stand-up dealer passes this card to the customer who makes the largest bet. The first card of the banker’s hand is then put next to the shoe. The dealer then calls for the player hand and the gambler who made the largest bet can look at his card and pass them on to the dealer who turns the cards, calculate the points and announces the total.

The dealer has to call for the banker’s side for the shoe holder to give out his cards to him. The dealer announces the total points of the shoe holder. As a player, you should aim at betting on two cards that total close but not exceeding nine. Face cards and tens do not earn you any points in Baccarat.

The rest of the cards in this game are worth their face value. An ace earns you one point. If the total of your cards exceeds ten, the second digit takes as the value of the hand. The dealer distributes two cards to each side. The point totals of your cards are what determines if your hand is eligible for a third card.

If your cards total to 8 or 9, they are referred to as a “natural.” In this case, the dealer does not add any more cards, and the player hand wins against the other hand. You can also stand on totals of 6 or 7. If you have any other totals starting from 0-5, you have to get a third card unless the banker’s hand has a natural. In this case, the banker’s hand wins the game. After both hands have played, the hand that has totals close to 9 becomes the automatic winner.
